About This Salon
At the corner of Northallerton's quiet streets, Altha offers traditional Japanese head spa treatments. The salon specialises in scalp analysis and steam therapy, complemented by Indian Shirotchampi massage techniques. Impressions consistently point to the expertise of therapists, particularly in their gentle yet effective approach. The head spa services include aromatherapy and enzyme exfoliation, designed to promote relaxation and scalp health. Sessions lasting over an hour grant access to the sauna, adding to the overall experience. The salon operates with extended hours on weekdays, closing on Thursdays and Fridays, while remaining open on weekends with reduced hours.

Booking Your Head Spa
Here are our tips to prepare for and fully enjoy your scalp treatment.
Book in Advance
Book 1 to 2 weeks in advance. Weekend slots sell out fast. And some scalp care specialists are in high demand, especially at reputable Japanese head spa and Indian head massage (champissage) salons.
Prepare for Your Visit
If you have concerns like itchy scalp, product buildup, or hair loss (alopecia), mention them when booking to customise your session.
Day of Your Session
Don't wash your hair the day of your appointment and arrive with brushed hair. Skip makeup as some treatments include a facial mask or kobido massage.
After Your Session
Enjoy a calm activity to extend the relaxing effects of your head massage. Note: blow-drying is usually not included. Allow extra time for long hair.
At-Home Care
Avoid washing your hair for 24-48 hours to let the treatment absorb. For a healthy scalp between sessions, ask your specialist which shampoo and hair care products to use at home.
Maintain Your Results
For lasting scalp health, consider regular treatments. Many clients book their next head spa before leaving to maintain their scalp care routine.
